STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARD HATE SPEECH AND HOAXIN FACEBOOK RELATED TO BASUKI TJAHAYA PURNAMA CASE SPREADED BY SARACEN
Abstract
This study aims to determine the attitudes of Undergraduate Students of Social and Political Science Facultyof Lampung University enrolled in 2015 toward hate speech and hoax related to Basuki Tjahaya Purnama (Ahok) case spreaded by Saracen via Facebook. Theory ini this research is Elaboration Likelihood Model. This research was conducted quantitatively with descriptive approach and uses questionnaires as instrumen data collection. The samples of this research were 87 respondents with Total Sampling method. The results show that hates peech and hoax received by students are processed by peripheral route. Although there is a significant correlation between hatespeech and hoax with attitudes to hate speech and hoax, the resulting attitudes are not strong and can be easily altered by other factors which can influence students in decision making or behaving.
