THE INFLUENCE OF LINE WEBTOON APPLICATION ON YOUTHS INTEREST TO READ DIGITAL COMIC

Abstract

Digital comic Webtoon is an  online application contained in which aims to make it easier for mobile phone users in reading comic digitally. There are many titles of comic with various genre of story presented in digital comic webtoon and free of charge. This research used a quantitative survey method and the primary data whose the main data was obtained directly from respondents through questionnaires. The sample of this research were the 90 students of SMA Perintis 1 and SMA Perintis 2 Bandar Lampung that has been chosen by purposive sampling method. The data result were analyzed by using simple liniear regression analysis technique. The results of this research showed that Digital Comic Webtoon has significant influence on youths interest to read comic at SMA Perintis 1 and SMA Perintis 2 Bandar Lampung for 69,5%. Based on the result of hypothesis testing, digital comic Webtoon has simultaneously showed that Fratio more bigger than Ftable in 5% significance level that is 200.141 ≥ 2,32 which means Ho was rejected  and  Ha was accepted, the result also shown that digital comic Webtoon has significantly inlfluenced on youths interest to read comic with very high positive correlation this having meaning that  features in application of line webtoon make youths  prefer read comic digital than read comic book.
